Narrow Gallery Art Opening: Frank Schaben
A wine and cheese reception will take place for the opening of a new art exhibit at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 21, in the Narrow Gallery, at the Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Ave.
The art instillation will feature the work of abstract expressionist painter and Oak Park Arms resident, Frank Schaben.
The exhibition can be viewed daily from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The Oak Park Arms is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay – a weekend, a week, a month or longer.

Narrow Gallery Art Opening for Howard McClain and students from LLC art class
A wine and cheese reception will take place for the opening of a new art exhibit at 7 p.m. Friday, May 17, in the Narrow Gallery, at the Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Ave.
The art instillation will feature the work of artist Howard McClain and students from Nancy Fong’s art class in the Lifelong Learning Center. Fong’s class consists of men and women age 50 and older who get together to paint for the fun of it and for the camaraderie.
Fong is an artist member and former vice-president and board member of the Oak Park Art League. She received her BA in Studio Arts from the University of Illinois.
McClain, an Oak Park Arms resident, only recently started as an amateur painter but was quickly recognized for his exceptional work. He is regularly featured in Gallery Pink, an Oak Park art gallery run by artist Janice Elkins where his work is not only displayed but also sold. Often, his paintings are based on memories of his life.
“In honor of Celebrating Seniors Week in May, we’re excited to feature such a special combination display of Howard’s work along with paintings and drawings from the students of Nancy’s art class,” said Desi Vasquez, activities director at the Oak Park Arms.
The exhibition can be viewed daily from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. through Thursday, June 20.

Narrow Gallery Art Opening at the Oak Park Arms
A wine and cheese reception will take place for the opening of the Lifelong Learning Center’s Senior Art Show at 6 p.m. Friday, March 22, in the Narrow Gallery, at the Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Ave.
The art instillation will feature work from all members of the painting class held at the Lifelong Learning Center and will be presented by Nancy Fong, the painting instructor.
A class is held every Friday that consists of men and women age 50 and older.
“Everyone in my class paints for the fun of it and for the camaraderie,” Fong said.

The Lifelong Learning Center, located inside the Oak Park Arms, strives to keep seniors active and inspired within the community. A variety of programs are available, such as ceramics, weaving, lapidary, creative writing, woodshop, quilting, needlecraft and painting.

Narrow Gallery Art Opening and Art Sale
A wine and cheese reception will take place for the opening of a new art installation from 2– 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, in the Narrow Gallery, at the Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Ave.
Photos from members of the Oak Park Photography Club (OPPC) will be debuted and displayed. In addition, a one-day sale will allow guests the unusual shopping opportunity to purchase photographers’ pieces.
The OPPC is a diverse group which spans three generations and all skill levels. But all members share a passion for photography. Together, they sharpen their skills and share their knowledge and experience.
In monthly meetings the club hosts guest photographer presentations and uses other mediums, such as group discussions, to allow members to learn from one another through an informal setting for critique.

Narrow Gallery Art Opening for Bobbie Raymond
A wine and cheese reception will take place for the opening of a new art installation at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, in the Narrow Gallery, at the Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Ave.
Local artist Bobbie Raymond returns to the Oak Park Arms with a new collection.
A long-time member of the Oak Park Art League, Raymond is presently at three galleries in Door County, Wisconsin: The Paint Box Gallery, Gallery Five, and Door County Art League Gallery. She currently facilitates the Figure Drawing Sundays. This year she has taught for Elder hostel and Festival of Nature.
The gallery can be viewed daily from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. through Sunday, Nov. 18th.

Narrow Gallery Artist: Mary Kay Weiderman
The Oak Park Arms is proud to welcome artist, Mary Kay Weiderman to the Narrow Gallery. Weiderman is presenting her collection entitled Gone To The Dogs, which will be available to view until April 27th. Weiderman is a local artist who uses pastels as her medium and enjoys drawing realistic representations of animals. She bases most of her work off of pictures her clients submit to her of their pets.
She writes, “With all of my clients, my motivation and mission is to paint for them a portrait which goes beyond simply an accurate rendering of the physical features and reflects the personality and characteristics of each beloved pet.” For more information please check out her website here. The Oak Park Arms Narrow Gallery is a wonderful space we’ve dedicated to housing local artists.
